Choc Result For Fund Week

Our annual Fund Week has come to a close.

Jason Plunkett of the Fund asks the questions at a Fund Week quiz night at the Royal Courts of Justice

Across the country, Fund supporters have been organising fundraising events in their offices to raise awareness and money for their in-house charity.

The aim is to beat last year’s total and raise more than our target of £5,000.

Cake sales, quizzes, dance nights, and dress down days have been staged, and Fund Week organiser Clare Bridges says that she’s optimistic we’ll beat our goal:

“We’ve had a terrific response from across the civil service, and especially in the two departments in which we have promoted the event widely – the Ministry of Justice, and DWP.

“Autumn is always a busy time of year but we’re hugely impressed at the way Fund Week has caught the imagination of so many people, whether they’ve organised an event, sponsored someone , or made a donation and found out more about their charity.

“It will take some time for all the money to be counted, but in the meantime, the planning has already begun for Fund Week 2010!”

Among the highlights:

  • Over 100 people packed into the Royal Courts of Justice to take part in a quiz night. The fiercely-contested brainteaser was eventually won by the magnificently-named “A Question of Nought”.
  • Similar quizzes also took place in the DWP’s Caxton House location in London, and at the CSSC Chadwick Street building.
  • Staff in various workplaces have been encouraged to dress down, or wear it “tight and bright”.
  • And Fund House staff got in the act as well; organising a chocolate-themed fundraiser, selling cakes and organising a Malteser obstacle course.

Clare says, “Many thanks to everyone who’s taken part or supported an event, on behalf of the many thousands of people helped by the Fund this year.

“Your donations will help to ensure that colleagues across the civil service get the help and advice they need.

“And we’ll let everyone know the final total as soon as we have it.”
