How It Works

Regular Giving is the largest source of income for the Fund.

Lisa Garnish making a workplace presentationThe majority of regular giving is organised by our team of Regional Development Officers.

Each of them works in a particular area (though for major campaigns in large offices, they will join forces), and visits offices within their area to encourage staff to make a contribution from their salary.

It's a strictly voluntary system: you do not have to be a donor to apply for help from the Fund, but clearly, the more contributors we have, the more we can do.

Arrangements for a visit are normally made with the local office manager, and a convenient time set for our RDO to come into the workplace and explain to staff what the Fund is all about.

If possible, we will ask to see staff within their own work area. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, we feel it's a much more friendly approach than talking impersonally to a large crowd of people within a staff, or conference, room.

Secondly, it enables us to speak directly to staff to let them know that we are here for them, for life; regardless of whether they wish to support our work or not.

The RDO will spend a short period of time speaking to staff to explain the work of the Fund, and issue donation forms which they can complete, should they wish.

We aim to cause as little disruption as possible while visiting an office, and there is no obligation to listen to our presentations, or complete a form.

Depending on the size of the office, an RDO visit can take anything from an hour, to several days!
