Diversity Networks
If you feel that sometimes you have an issue that no-one around you understands, there is always somewhere you can turn.
Listed below are some of the main Civil Service-wide diversity networks.
They play a vital role in helping people with similar issues, beliefs, or orientation, come together and become part of a community that offers support, help, guidance, and friendship.
These networks are just the tip of the iceberg, and many Government Departments have their own individual networks as well.
- a:gender a:gender is the support network for staff in government departments / agencies who have changed or need to change permanently their perceived gender, or who identify as intersex.
- Christians In Government UK A network of Christians of all denominations working in the Civil Service, with representatives in all major departments and many national government organisations across the UK.
- Civil Service Disability Network The Network was set up by a group of people with disabilities from various government department and agency networks, and provides a forum for dialogue on disability issues.
- Civil Service Islamic Society A non-political, voluntary society, representative of mainstream Islamic opinion in central government. The Society works within the Civil Service framework of honesty, impartiality and integrity. It aims to build on common shared inter-faith values for the benefit of the Civil Service.
- Civil Service Rainbow Alliance The Rainbow Alliance has been set up to offer support to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender staff across the Civil Service.
