Jack Kimberley

Jack Kimberley has his independence back thanks to the Fund.

Jack suffers from cerebral palsy, and as such he is restricted to a wheelchair.

His family had saved enough money to provide Jack with a new motorised chair, but this in turn caused problems.

The new equipment didn't fit with their existing car.

As a result, taking Jack to places he would like to go, and get the most out of, was proving a major problem for his mum, Catherine, who works at COI Communications.

On a more practical level, it made getting Jack to school much more difficult.

In order, therefore, for his new wheelchair to give him the fullest possible benefit, Catherine needed to find a new car.

And with their savings already exhausted, this was impossible unless they got some outside help.

Which is where the Fund came in.

We provided a grant to help cover the cost of a deposit for their new Motability vehicle. It's large enough to take Jack, his wheelchair, and the rest of the family, and that means he's much more mobile as a result.
