Lorraine Griffiths
Having the chance to go to university is a major opportunity for most young people. But when you suffer from dyspraxia, it's also an amazing achievement.
Lorraine Griffiths works in the Welsh Assembly Government. Her daughter suffers from dyspraxia, a condition which makes co-ordination extremely difficult.
Nonetheless, her academic studies were impressive enough for her to be offered a place at university, where she had the chance to fulfil her ambition and take a massive step towards becoming an occupational therapist.
But as any parent will tell you, life as a student can be extremely expensive, especially if you're only just making ends meet.
That's why the Civil Service Insurance Society came up with a fund to help families where paying for their children's university education was likely to cause them financial hardship.
The fund is administered here by our Help and Advisory Service, and we were only too pleased to award a grant to help cover the costs for books, and other essential materials.
