NI Committee Fetch Four Grand For An iPad

The iPad may have been the apple of quite a few eyes in the run up to Christmas – and the Northern Ireland Committee took full advantage by raising a record-breaking sum for their annual workplace raffle.

NI Committee Chair Gerry Anketell presents Loretta Flavelle with her iPad

A 16gb iPad, generously donated by our friends at the Civil Service Insurance Society, was the top prize for their prize draw.

And despite the terrible winter weather that caused so many problems across the UK during December, staff throughout Northern Ireland came out in force to support their in-house charity.

Northern Ireland Committee Chair Gerry Anketell says, “Last year (2009) our Christmas Workplace Raffle raised £2,350.61 – our best result ever.

“I had hoped that we might better that this year by raising in the region of £2,500.

“The reality however was that our final figure was nowhere near that – it was an absolutely incredible, unbelievable, flabbergasting... ...£4,811.50!”

And if the raffle wildly exceeded the hopes of the Northern Ireland Committee, it also turned out to be great news for Loretta Flavelle of Account NI.

She bought the lucky ticket that was drawn out to win the iPad, presented to her by Gerry just before the festive season.

All eyes are now on the Northern Ireland Committee to see what they’ll do to mark our 125th anniversary.

And if it’s anything to go by past experience, it will be very successful!
